A frame from one of many beautiful folktales in Italo Calvino’s Italian Folktales. The tale tells the story of a man who is down on his luck and ends up with a gift of 24 frogs from a mysterious man in the forest, which he then trades for a shining fish that shines so bright in the night, it leads fisherman home safe in a storm. The fishermen then strike a deal with the man, that if he continues to hang the shining fish outside his home, they will provide his family with food.
